New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland Celebrates Newly Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse

11/13/2015

Sue Dostie CRRN recently achieved the designation of Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse.  She is the first Nurse at NERHP to have earned this prestigious credential.

Becoming certified in any specialty area of nursing practice requires a commitment to excellence in patient care and a drive to enhance knowledge and practice.  Earned and maintained by more than 4,800 nurses, the Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) credential represents specialized experience and knowledge in the care of patients with neurological trauma and illness.  Attaining the CNRN certification requires successful completion of a neuroscience nursing exam that is intended to determine if the candidate possesses the knowledge needed to competently care for both neurosurgical and neurological patient populations.

Sue has been a valued member of the NERHP staff for over ten years, and is a charge nurse and shift coordinator.  Elizabeth Glidden, NERHP’s Chief Nursing Officer, expressed her pride and appreciation for Sue’s dedication to excellence in clinical practice: “We are so fortunate to have Sue.  She is a lifelong learner who is committed to providing high quality care for patients and ongoing professional development for herself and others.”
